Electronic measuring instrument for balancing and commissioning of all hydronic heating and cooling systems

 

Characteristics

Ergonomic design for easy use on building sites. Due to its large strap, the FlowPlus is easy to carry on your shoulder or around your neck. The backlit graphic screen offers you a clear display of all the functions of the instrument. The optimum design of the keyboard allows effortless encoding of data. Furthermore, the FlowPlus comes with a robust aluminium case that is resistant to water splashes. The case supplied with the instrument is designed for the FlowPlus and its different accessories.

Online help

The help key can be pressed at any time to get an explanation about the function in progress. If the FlowPlus detects an error, it informs you at once and suggests the correction to be carried out.

Extensive autonomy

The powerful nickel-cadmium batteries give the instrument over 20 hours of autonomy. In addition, an indicator lets you know the charge status of the batteries.

Choice of parameters

Choice of language: the dialog messages are offered in French, English, German or in any other language on request. Choice of pressure units (Bar, PSI, kPa, metre of water column, foot of water column), of flow (litres/second, litres/hour, m³/hour, US gallons/minute, Imperial gallons/minute), of temperature (°Centigrade, °Fahrenheit) and, finally, of units for Kv values (metric, US Cv Factor, UK Cv Factor).

Integrated clock

The autonomously powered integrated clock allows the automatic dating of measurements.

Storage of measurements

Measurements are stored on request or automatically in the project management functions. The results can be transferred to a PC for processing in an EXCEL spreadsheet. 
      

 

The FlowPlus CD-ROM

In addition to the user manual for the instrument, the PC software and an exhaustive library of valves, the CD-ROM has the very latest version of the FlowPlus program and the PC utility application. In the valve database, you can select the most common types and enter their characteristics in your instrument. Alternatively, if necessary, you can enter new characteristics yourself.

 

PC Software

The program enables you to prepare a job efficiently by making a list of the valves to be used, their brand and type, the setpoint flow calculated by the engineering office and the presetting position. This list is then transferred to the FlowPlus memory. It can also be exported to EXCEL.

Processing of measurements

The processing of measurements at the end of the job is child’s play. Just connect the FlowPlus to a PC with Microsoft Excel under Windows. It’s as easy as that! All the data can then be analyzed, printed (for balancing reports, time graphs, statements of hours of balancing work, etc.) and stored in your PC.

Individual pressure sensors

The individual sensors are designed to measure the pressure upstream and downstream, so you are spared all the problems associated with differential sensors (blockage of the bypass with impurities, pipes filled with water, frost, etc.). These sensors do not require any maintenance and their ceramic measurement element offers remarkable corrosion resistance and accuracy. Several pressure ranges are available: 5 Bar, 10 Bar, 20 Bar and 50 Bar. These pressure ranges are automatically recognized. Due to the calibration function, you can obtain optimum accuracy for the measurement of low flow levels. Finally, the sensors are fitted with an instantaneously closing connector. In addition, the adapters delivered with the instrument allow you to connect any type of valve.
Measurements you can make by using the FlowPlus


Pressure measurement (P1, P2):
the FlowPlus indicates the value of the pressure upstream and downstream in the selected units

Differential pressure measurement (P1-P2):
the FlowPlus indicates the value of the difference between the pressure upstream and the pressure downstream in the selected units.

Measurement of extremes of differential pressure:
the FlowPlus indicates the value of the extremes of difference between the pressure upstream and the pressure downstream in the selected units. This allows you to measure the variations over time in the operational conditions of the hydronic system.

Measurement of real flow:
the user selects the valve from the list in the memory and enters its position in the instrument. The FlowPlus measures the pressure drop and displays in real time the actual flow in the selected unit.

"Open valve" flow measurement:
the user selects the valve from the list in the memory and checks that it is in the fully open position. The FlowPlus measures the pressure drop and displays in real time the actual flow in the selected unit. The advantage of this measurement method is that it allows you to read at any time the actual flow on the measuring valve installed f.i. in the supply column while the flow volume is being adjusted on the setting valve installed in the return column.

Complete proportional method for balancing:
the user selects the valve from the list in the memory and enters its position in the instrument. If the job has been prepared, the setpoint flow appears immediately, otherwise the user is invited to enter it. The FlowPlus measures the pressure drop and displays in real time the actual flow, the setpoint flow and the ratio of these two flows.

Proportional "open valve" method for balancing :
the type PT100 contact probe (with handle) allows the user to measure the flow temperature in the selected units.

Differential temperature measurement:
the temperature of the supply column can be stored. The user can then measure the difference in temperature on the return column.

 

FlowPlus case contents :

  • The FlowPlus instrument with its carrier strap;
  • Two pressure sensors (range specified in the order), fitted with instant pressure connector;
  • The external charger (standard: 230 VAC);
  • A calibration T-piece;
  • An RS232C connection cable for PCs fitted with DB9 male / female connectors;
  • A DB9 / DB25 RS232C adapter;
  • The FlowPlus accessory box, which is closed with a broad rubber band and contains two adapters for 4mm flexible houses, two adapters for 8mm flexible houses and two adapters with a female thread of ¼ ‘’ (BSP);

Optional accessoires

  • Pressure sensors in other ranges (depending on the static pressure of the system to be balanced). The range includes sensors for 5, 10, 20 and 50 Bar;
  • Type PT100 temperature sensor (with handle);
  • Adapters for pressure test cocks.
